Random Facts Friday – I Survived the Polar Vortex

Here I go claiming that I’m going to start posting again and then I totally go MIA for a week. Well, let’s just say Polar Vortex aka Antarditka is part of my excuse.

On Sunday night, I received a phone call from my work that the office would be closed on Monday, but those that could work from home should do so.

I’m not a typical WFH person, so I was a little nervous that I would get behind on my work. Shocker, I actually had an amazingly productive day. And then, the same thing happened on Tuesday. Office closed, work from home. Sure, I may not have been busy for 8 hours, but I did everything that I needed to! I guess that’s what -17 temperatures and a warm condo will do to you. To be honest, this was the first time ever that we didn’t have to sleep with our windows open.

Plus, my workouts were great too. Now that Food Network has taken away all of the Iron Chef of America episodes, I’m stuck with Chopped. Now, there’s nothing terrible about Chopped at all, but when I’m on the treadmill, my preferences in order (on FN) are: Cupcake Wars, Triple G, Triple D, ICofA, Chopped. Wow, my life is so hard. ;)

What else has been going on this week. On Tuesday, I made it out to the DMV. It was only -10 – chump change, people. I lost my license  (embarrassing!), so I was stuck in that HELL HOLE for about an hour. My picture is horrible, but on the bright side, my license was set to expire this year, so I was able to renew and finally update my address.

I also went to a wedding over last weekend. My entire family was there + Paul, and we had a great time. Mixed drinks, photo booth, dancing, that’s pretty much a perfect wedding.

And TGIF! Don’t have too many plans for the weekend. I think we may watch “Wolf of Wall Street” tonight and tomorrow head to a bar for a friend’s birthday. Football games are also on the agenda.

Before I go, here in my favorite link from the last week from Buzz Feed. When I was a kid, my sister and I had a Disney Princesses CD that was filled with music from Snow White, Beauty & The Beast, etc. I cannot sing high at all, so I was always stuck with Pocahontas songs – no Aurora or Ariel for me. So this video, lambasting the sopranos of Disney music really hits home. I’m sure a lot of girls can relate!

Enjoy the weekend! It’s 32 degrees in Chicago and it feels like a heat wave.
